Going to court

Yesterday was my very first time going to a court house. The building itself looks quite grand. The olden design reminds me of our British heritage. My lawyer had initially led me to an actual court room and asked me to wait there. At first I thought that the hearing would be held there. My breath was caught for a moment. After about 10-20 minutes of waiting, he led me out a side door and into another smaller waiting room filled with a few lawyers discussing cases and getting to know each other. It was another short wait in this room before being allowed into the ante room where a judge and two others waited.

The judge was quite a friendly person, asking a few questions and made a few comments. One of the questions he asked was if there was a possibility to work things out. I told him it was not possible. He also asked if this is my final decision to proceed with the divorce and if it was also her final decision. I told him yes. He shortened the reconciliation period from 6 months to a month and wished me good luck in the future.

I thanked him and left. A month later, I will be getting the divorce letter which will make everything official. This ends my long wait and the pain of loss. Putting everything behind, I am looking forward to making progress in my current life and while I may not excel in every way and every thing that people want me to, I will do my goddamn best.

Thanks to my lawyer for helping me get this done. A special thanks to Stephy for understanding my situation and staying by me. I will repay all your faith and do my best to make sure you are happy.
